The Pilla

Hey folks, Justinio here, bringing you some great news! Project Klaxon has (sort of) it’s first fully-rigged character model, and it’s not the one you think... It’s the Pilla!

Looping Animation (Facebook Page)

YouTube Upload

This character was actually created when I was around 15 years old. The Pilla was Clayson’s pet from my first stop-motion show called “The Clayson Show.” Sadly, the computer I was animating in died before I could back-up the episodes, and the servers I uploaded them to went out of business and shit down... My old website still exists though, albeit very, very littered with ads and extremely childish (because I was a child). Clayton’s page can be found here. I was only three episodes in, but a lot of great ideas and concepts were created from that show and my ideas for “Project Klaxon” have sprung from that same universe. Stay tuned for more animation as we get underway!
Note: Please excuse the floor suddenly shrinking beneath the Pilla’s feet, as the rendering crashed while I was at frame 34, and rebooting my save to continue the render was before I re-scaled the floor... Oops!

Set Building in CG

Hey folks! Just giving you an update, letting you know that “Project Klaxon” is still very much under way. Using a mix of Sculptris and Blender, I found out that I can sculpt just like my clay, and the sets, lighting, and set pieces don’t take up space, don’t collect dust, and (can) look ten times better when done right! If you take a look here, I’m playing with two different light settings:
Picture
In one render, the lighting is a bit dark, but gets the clay textures right. In the other, I can render and animate in real-time, but some quality gets lost in it’s flood lighting, which I probably need practice re-balancing.

This is me testing Klaxon with his green cowl. Still don’t have the physics right, but once I do, the physics on his cowl, elf boots, ears, nose and hat with animate their physics automatically with his movements, and it’ll be sweet! His hat will magically “float” above his head a bit, and wobble back-and-forth across his bald head. Anyhoo, stay tuned for the next update, and stay awesome!
